Geography ^& Climate
Ludhiana City is one of the richest cities of Punjab and is located on National Highway NH1 (Delhi-Amritsar). On the globe it is situated between 30.9"N - 75.85"E and falls in Malwa region of Punjab. In the north of the city Sutlej flows and separates it from Jalandhar district. The river also works as its northern boundary with Hoshiarpur district. However, it shares common boundaries with Rupnagar, Moga and Sangrur.
The climate of the city remains almost dry round the year apart from brief showers of Monsoon in hot summer and chilling winter. December and January are the coldest months, while June is hottest one, hot and dust laden wind blows here during summer. In all, it has mainly four seasons; these are winter, spring, summer and monsoon.

By Air:
Ludhiana has an airport having flights to all major cities of India. Tourist Places in Ludhiana

Lodhi Kila :

This fort was constructed by Muslim Ruler Sikander Lohi, 500 years ago. During 500 years of its period it has witnessed a number of attacks and now seems to be crumbling in dilapidating state. Lodhi Kila is known as famous tourist places in Ludhiana among the tourists. 

Gurudwara Shrimanji Sahib : 
It is 10 km away from Ludhiana City Guide. The Gurudwara commemorates the place wherein Muslim devotees Nabi Khan and Ghani Khan took last Sikh Guru Gobind Singh to safety during the battle. 

Hardy's world:
It is a beautiful amusement park, 7 km from the city. It has complete fun package including theme parties, joy rides, cafes and shopping complexes for young and old ones both.

Bhir : 
It is a famous mosque constructed by Mohammad Gori in 1911. Owing to its architecture and exoticness it is visited by large number of tourists every year. 

The Museum of Rural History of Punjab: 
The building situated in the university campus resembles traditional houses of Punjab. It exhibits old bronze utensils and farming equipments etc.

Historical Background
Ludhiana city's history goes back ot Lodhi dynasty, which ruled Delhi from 1415-1526 A.D. Sikandhar Lodhi had deputed Lodhi chief Yusuf Khan and Nihand Khan to restore peace in the region, which was known as Mir Hota village at that time. They effectively fought with Khokhars and went up to Sultanpur, on the other hand Nihand Khan stayed back at the site of Mir Hota village. So the town was called Lodhi-ana that means the town of Lodhi's. The name changed further and it is now known as Ludhiana City.
